Banner/BearPAWS Maintenance Completed

For the last few days, a large amount of malformed network traffic has been flooding the administrative network. This manifested itself most visibly as printing difficulty, but also as periodic slowness/latency. The devices responsible for said traffic have been tracked down and removed from the network, and all issues should now be resolved.
While trying to narrow the scope of a local network problem, an Internet outage was caused when a network segment did not immediately regain full functionality during isolation procedures. The equipment has been reset and functionality restored.
All quarantined messages have been re-delivered. Note that email clients will typically not display these as if they were recently received, but by their original delivery date, i.e. yesterday.
Yesterday, an errant virus definition from an upstream provider caused some email messages to be mistakenly blocked by our content scanning system. The window of duration was 11:10:46 to 17:13:22. We will be scripting a re-delivery of these quarantined messages shortly.
The “Home Directory” share that is typically automatically mounted when logging into the MacOS in a lab or classroom is NOT currently auto-mounting. We are working on a fix, but it may be several days before we have it working again.
A hardware fault in a production blade brought down systems that included BearMail, the Windows domain, and some aspects of DNS. Email and printing services experienced service interruption due to possibly-related faults in their respective server daemons. Other more minor service outages were observed. At this time, all services are believe to be back online.
Currently several services are unavailable.
Banner/BearPAWS are now available.
