A problem with a central database system caused distributed access issues to a number of systems/application including Request Tracker, Moodle, and campus blogs. Engineers have addresses the problem and most services are believed to be operating normally.
Dunn Hall was mistakenly omitted from the original announcement regarding the limited telephone outage. Please be advised that there are five buildings, Barrington Student Union, Draime Hall, Dunn Hall, Sisson Hall and Van Housen Hall are all without telephone service and will be through 01/10/12 at the very least.
As of 07:34am on 01/07/12 the BAR-SU EPN which provides telephony services for Sisson Hall, Barrington Student Union, Van Housen Hall and Draime Hall has been out of service resulting in no telephone service for the buildings previously listed. University Police may be reached by dialing 267-2222 from off-campus or 2222 from on-campus. This problem will most likely not be resolved prior to Monday, January 09, 2012 at the earliest. Helios will undergo a brief maintenance window beginning at 16:30 (4:30 PM) today. Helios home directories, shares, and web folders will be intermittently unavailable.

Helios will undergo a four (4) hour maintenance window beginning at 19:00 (7:00 PM) this evening. There will be no access to Helios home directories, shares, and web folders for the duration of the window.
Tomorrow morning 12/9 (Saturday), there is a scheduled three hour tentative maintenance window, during which fiber optic work in Raymond will be conducted. During the window, there may be intermittent service interruption to various campus network segments, as well as the campus Internet connection.
Various web services including the blogs and online directory will be intermittently unavailable from 21:00 – 22:00 (9pm – 10pm) tonight in order to facilitate system maintenance.
