[ANNOUNCE] Retrieve Your Old Voice Mails

In the spring of 2018 CTS purchased and installed a new Voice Mail System to replace the system that has been in use for over 15 years. As the transition to the new system is considered complete, we will decommission the old servers on Wednesday, October 31, 2018. If you have not yet retrieved any saved messages from the old system, please do so before that date, as they will not be accessible thereafter. To check for messages on the old system go to http://voicemail.potsdam.edu, and when the logon screen appears, enter your phone extension (4 digits) and the security code used for the OLD system. Use the drop-down menus to find, listen to, and/or forward any existing messages to another location. CTS will not be responsible for any messages left on the old system after October 31, 2018. If you have any questions please direct to the TelCom office via email at telcom@potsdam.edu.

Email Spoofing Notice

CTS is seeing a higher than normal instance of Email Spoofing. This is defined by Wikipedia as: “E-mail spoofing is a term used to describe fraudulent e-mail activity in which the sender address and other parts of the e-mail header are altered to appear as though the e-mail originated from a different source. E-mail spoofing is a technique commonly used for spam e-mail and phishing to hide the origin of an e-mail message. By changing certain properties of the e-mail, such as the From, Return-Path and Reply-To fields (which can be found in the message header), ill-intentioned users can make the e-mail appear to be from someone other than the actual sender.” As always, if you do suspect suspicious activity happening with your account, immediately visit https://account.potsdam.edu/ and change your password to something that you’ve not used on any site or service before.
