[RESOLVED] Domain logins/VPN access issues

An issue with a core network data information system is causing issues for domain logins and VPN access. Engineers are aware of the problem and are in the process of restoring full services.
The second of two brief power outages knocked a pair of distribution switches offline in Raymond, and one of them did not reboot cleanly when power returned. Roughly half of the academic quad was without data network for roughly ten minutes. At this time, all service is restored.
Illiad will undergo a four (4) hour maintenance window beginning at 08:30 (8:30 AM) this morning. All Illiad services will be unavailable during this maintenance window.
The Maintenance window in Stillman is now closed. All network functionality should be normal.
Network service to Stillman will be offline this evening beginning no earlier than 7:30pm and lasting (hopefully) no longer than 2 hours as we install a new network switch. Notice will be sent when things are back online.
As of 12:08pm on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 all telephony services have been 100% restored to Barrington Student Union, Draime Hall, Dunn Hall, Sisson Hall and Van Housen Hall. Thank you everyone for patience while we resolved this outage.
An large volume of suspicious traffic destined for the campus web server caused performance problems for various web services. For the moment this has been resolved and performance problems should be alleviated. Engineers will continue to monitor the situation as the day progresses.
www3 web services will be intermittently available tonight from 22:00 to 23:00 (10-11pm) to facilitate system maintenance.
A problem with a central database system caused distributed access issues to a number of systems/application including Request Tracker, Moodle, and campus blogs. Engineers have addresses the problem and most services are believed to be operating normally.
