SUNY Potsdam’s Telephone Service Outage has been resolved and all services have been restored.
SUNY Potsdam is currently experiencing an incoming and outgoing telephone service outage. This outage is a result of a DS3 outage with one our service providers. We are aware of the problem and working on it. Thank you for your patience while we work with our provide to restore services.
A critical networking component experienced a system fault and required a reboot. Networking service outside of the Admin network (including Internet) was affected for approximately 3-4 minutes. At this time service should be fully restored.
All active email accounts have been moved off of the affected storage volume.
Progress moving user accounts to new storage volumes continues. Users are reminded that they can login to mailguard.potsdam.edu to view/re-send any messages sent to them within the last seven days from off-campus addresses.
Users should make no assumptions about ultimate delivery and receipt of email between 8AM and 2PM today. While every effort was made to queue all email, instability caused by the ongoing storage issues allowed for periods where the majority of mail sent to campus accounts (originating from both on-campus and off-campus) was indeed bounced. At this time it is safe to send messages. Important messages sent during the above window should be resent. Some users are still without email access as they are moved to a new storage volume, but mail to them will be queued for later delivery.
Changes have been made such that email delivery to local campus accounts should once again be working. Users on the affected volume have no email access at this time, and deliveries will be queued for later delivery once their mail is once again available.
An email storage volume is in need of critical maintenance. Users on that volume will not be able to receive mail, and mail for all users will be queued until the volume is once again available.
Maintenance has been completed and service has been restored for Banner/BearPAWS and HR Time Accounting.
