CTS will be performing maintenance on our data network on Sunday, October 25, 2015 beginning at 9:00 A. M. During this maintenance Faculty and Staff computers may experience brief network connectivity issues. All services (E-mail, Moodle, Helios, etc.) should be unaffected. An announcement will be made when maintenance is complete.
On November 1st 2015, CTS will discontinue Potsdam’s FTP service to Helios. FTP is an old and insecure connection method from the early days of the Internet. The preferred method for connecting to file shares when off campus is to use the College’s upgraded VPN service. This requires a straightforward installation of the “Global Protect” VPN software. Instructions on downloading and installing it are located here: http://www.potsdam.edu/cts/services/vpn/. When off campus, VPN allows your computer to connect to our network as if it were on-compus. As such, once you have “VPN’ed in” to campus, connecting to Helios (or any other service) is exactly the same as on campus. Instructions for connecting to helios from various operating systems may be found here: http://www.potsdam.edu/cts/services/helios/ If you have any questions, please contact the CTS Helpdesk: helpdesk@potsdam.edu
Campus VoIP phones are all working now. Please notify the helpdesk if there are any issues. Thank You, CTS
CTS is working on resolving all remaining VoIP phone issues and will notify the campus when it is complete. CTS
Our e-mail server is working properly now. You should be able to send and receive e-mail. If you are still experiencing any issues please report them to the helpdesk.
We are experiencing a problem with our e-mail server. Technicians are investigating.
All hosted services at ITEC will be affected – Dell Secureworks, our managed IDS/IPS provider, is performing a code upgrade on our IPS device. The upgrade is image-based and requires a reboot of the system to complete the upgrade. The reboot takes about 2-5 minutes at which time all traffic to and from ITEC will be disrupted.
Yesterday’s server maintenance (at 4:30 pm) was completed successfully and quickly with no problems encountered. Our apology if you did not receive the original notification of completion.
The server maintenance announced earlier today has begun. Network slowdowns may occur, though we expect they will not.
