[ANNOUNCE] Potential Vulnerability w/Library On-Line Resources

Computing & Technology Services has discovered a potential vulnerability in accessing the LibraryÂ’s On-Line Resources, resulting in usernames and passwords being sent unencrypted when accessing these resources from off campus and the dorms, and possibly from on campus, during the last month. It is not known if any user credentials were misappropriated due to this error.

The vulnerability has been fixed but the server involved is still undergoing configuration to permit off-campus access to work properly. CTS is working to restore full functionality.

If you have used the Library’s On-Line Resources in the past month, protect your account by changing your password:

1) visit the Potsdam home page

2) click Campus Tools (upper right)

3) click CTS

4) click Services

5) click Campus Computer Account

6) and finally click Set/Change CCA Password

As a general rule, if you ever suspect your login credentials have been used by someone else, follow the above procedure.
