We are experiencing an internet outage. Internal sites such as this blog are still available to computers on campus. At this time we believe it to be an issue with our internet service provider. Technicians are investigating and seeking confirmation.
We are guardedly optimistic in our belief that we have found the source(s) of the excessive traffic that was bogging down the network and causing a multitude of symptoms. We continue to monitor and inspect our systems.
We are seeing signs that the network problems from the past two weeks are beginning to resurface. Anything network-based will have performance issues. Symptoms of the problem we are experiencing include, but are not limited to: “choppy” and erratic phone performance, Helios disconnections, slow internet browsing or pages failing to load, and errors when printing large jobs. Investigation is underway.
We experienced another brief network/phone outage early this afternoon. Technicians have zeroed in on the cause (external) and are working to prevent the problem from recurring.
