Tonight the mailing list server (lists.potsdam.edu) will be unavailable from 22:00 – 00:00 (10:00 pm to midnight) while it undergoes an upgrade.
The conditions that have caused degraded Internet performance have been successfully resolved, and all segments are overwhelmed with FaceBook and eBay as usual.
A power anomaly in the Kellas Data Center brought down equipment housing the campus print server. Power re-routed, and service restored.
As of 1pm on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 all local and long-distance services provided by PAETEC to SUNY Potsdam have been resolved. If you experience further service interruptions please contact the TelCom Office at X3000.
In an effort to rectify persistent Internet performance problems, key network components will be restarted at 1:00PM resulting in an Internet1, Internet2 and SUNYNet outage of up to 8 minutes.
SUNY Potsdam has been notified by PAETEC that they are presently experiencing a large scale service interruption. This will directly impact all local and long distance services provided to SUNY Potsdam by PAETEC. As further information is available we will update this site.
Our Internet1 service is currently in a degraded state. Expect performance problems.
In approximately 5 minutes there will be a brief, campus-wide Internet outage lasting at most 2 minutes. It is expected to be much shorter and go entirely unnoticed, but hey… You never know.
At 9:00PM and again at 9:15PM tonight, campus Internet access will be impacted as technicians relocate cables and update configurations to critical access systems. Each outage is expected to last around 15 seconds.
